Effective Cards

Consider the importance of business cards as a marketing tool. In less than 20 seconds your card will say a lot about you and your company – making a lasting impression. Here are a few simple designs tips that will make your card stand out:

  • Change the stock. By using a thick stock your card won’t feel flimsy when cut down to business card size. You may even want double ply stock or might consider printing on a specialty paper.
  • Change the shape. A folded business card gives extra surfaces on which to display a photograph, eye-catching graphics, contact information, or valuable content. Although this makes the business card thicker after folding, it will still fit inside a standard business card holder.
  • Change the card’s orientation. By changing the card’s orientation from horizontal (landscape) to vertical (portrait) you can create something unique. Do be aware that a vertical orientation means that your card will be turned 90 degrees when placed inside a standard business card holder.
  • Add Foil, embossing or die cutting. Adding foil or embossing not only enhances the richness of your card, it adds a tactile sensation that many people find pleasing. Because these processes add to the cost of business cards, it can convey a sense of success and prosperity to your business.
  • Add brail. Adding brail to your card tells your customers and colleagues that you are aware and sensitive to the needs of the blind. If you are a healthcare provider or government organization this may be part of your ADA compliancy.
  • Add your photograph. Many real estate agents and others business owners are now adding their photographs to business cards. For best results, use a photograph that is close-up and no more than 1 ¾ inches.
  • Print on the back. Advertise and making an impression by printing on the back of your card. Things to include maybe your company’s mission statement, tag line, coupon or special offer, date and time of next appointment or map or directions to your location.
